Killzone 2 Empty
PostSubject: Killzone 2   Killzone 2 EmptyThu Mar 12, 2009 7:15 pm

After spending a good deal of time online with Killzone 2, the time is come for the final verdict on this one. Just to get this out in the open, KZ2 has some of the most intense, fun, and crazy online play ever seen on a console. Lag free, usually, 32 man battles on epic maps with multiple gametypes just makes for the most warlike experience since the Battlefield 2 & 2142 offerings on the PC. Warzone, both the name for online in KZ2 and the main gametype online, is an intense series of games within a single round. Over the course of 15 or 20 minutes in a warzone room, you will find yourself fighting to defend bomb plants and assassinating a targeted player on the other team amongst other things.

That said, this game is not for the feint of heart online. It can be very overwhelming for many gamers at first, thus I urge you to spend at least a few days ranking up to General before you pass judgement on this game. Whether it is the ability to turn invisible and snipe big blue X's on your screen, or the ability to run super fast and blast people with rockets; there is unequaled fun to be had on this game. The room are customizable online allowing the customization of everything from round times to weapons allowed, which lends to you being able to enjoy the game how you want.

As for the other aspects of the game, I played single player a bit and found the difficulty to be quite suitable per their rank. The game was challenging and enjoyable, if not completely engrossing. One thing I did appreciate was the Skirmish mode added into the game. It basically allows you to play multiplayer offline against bots, whom enjoy adjustable difficulty, if you should so desire. It will surely help you get your Killzone fix if your internet goes down due to snow, just ask yours truly.

There are definitely some issues with the game, be it lack of a party system, the commonly occurring disconnects, and some missing options in each of the modes; but the simple fact is that this is an excellent offering from Guerilla Games. After the demo release, and the initial final release, there was a lot of complaining about the controls and GG took the initiative to tighten them up a good bit. You will definitely see a difference in the control, even if you had no problems with the old setup. The dead zone is smaller and the aiming is more precise, so it should be more enjoyable now if you hated the controls before.

All told, I would say this is one of the VERY few killer apps to release exclusively on the PS3 and it may be enough for me to say a PS3 is worth having. In the end, you really cannot ask much more than that from a single game. Kudos to GG and most of the KZ community for creating a tremendous environment for us all to get CRAZY!!!!!! on.
